Our Team

Our amazing volunteers bring the Safe Families movement to life in the community, guided by a devoted staff pouring their hearts into supporting isolated families, training and vetting volunteers, and partnering with local agencies to help keep families together!

Our Volunteers

We are fueled by an incredible army of dedicated volunteers, and happily welcome you to join our team! Volunteers serve a variety of roles from hosting children for a temporary period of time to providing services such as transportation, parent mentoring, respite care, and supplying tangible items such as diapers, car seats, and meals.

Our Staff

Brittany Willer

Community & Church Engagement Coordinator

Email

Brittany serves as our North Central Kansas Community & Church Engagement Coordinator and carries a deep, God-given calling to serve the underserved and to encourage those who are struggling, always in His love and truth. Her passion for walking alongside people in hard seasons is exactly what fuels her work connecting churches, volunteers, and families in crisis.

She’s married to Thaine, a dedicated middle school teacher and basketball coach, and together they’re raising two incredible young men: Brayden (15) and Beckham (12).

Brittany brings a strong background in development having previously served with ministries focused on homeless rehabilitation and youth development. Now, she uses those skills to help churches in North Central Kansas catch the vision for keeping children SAFE AND TOGETHER through the Safe Families movement.

When she’s not meeting with pastors or rallying volunteers, Brittany pours her heart into her community as a Board Member for the Salina Area Emergency Aid Food Bank, VVP of Noon Network Ambucs, and a vocalist on the Crosspoint Worship Team.

In her free time, Brittany enjoys crafting and refinishing furniture, restoring broken things to their original beauty. It’s no surprise this hobby mirrors her calling: helping restore hope, dignity, and stability to families who need it most.

Lane Mills

Family Coach

Email

Lane Mills serves as a Family Coach with Safe Families for Children, joining the team in October 2025. Although newer to this specific role, Lane has spent many years walking alongside people in tough places and supporting them through seasons of challenge and transformation.

Lane graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Religion and a minor in Family Counseling. His background includes six years in pastoral ministry and four years serving at the Salina Rescue Mission—experiences that shaped his heart for helping people find freedom in Jesus and build healthy, supportive community.

Lane enjoys spending time with his wife and cheering on their six children. He also loves dabbling in sports photography and shade-tree mechanics, and while he doesn’t consider himself the biggest sports fanatic, he finds joy in encouraging his kids as they play.

A passage dear to Lane’s heart is 1 Corinthians 13:4–5, a reminder of Christ’s love and the way we are called to love one another: “Love is patient, love is kind…”

We surround families in crisis with caring, compassionate community. FIND A CHAPTER
